Well, that was fun! Our June 8 show at the Winkin’ Owl Pub and Grill crept into the wee hours of June 9, as we played four (count ’em, four!) sets for the first time as a band.
We are humbled, as always, by the incredible support from our network of friends. Plenty of highlights from Friday, including:
- A packed dance floor (sure, it was small, but it was also packed);
- A second-set birthday girl who sang a Gloria Gaynor number;
- Stu and Pete from local cover band Falussy in the audience; and
- Fantastic work by Lee, from local cover band No Borders, on the sound board.
Since our April 13 show at the Winkin Owl, we’d been working on a handful of new songs that we trotted out Friday night–a Jimmy Eat World gem, some House of Pain sweetness, a Modern English classic, Nile Rodgers-era Bowie, that Gaynor anthem song, and the topper, Styx’s Too Much Time on My Hands.
We’ll be back on stage Thursday, July 12 at the Blind Beggar alongside Yellowknife. Time to dive into the country music library–with the Stampede in full swing, we’ll be doing a little more twangin’!
